Donor Badges are Our Blood Institute's exciting new program that rewards you for every donation milestone you reach. From your very first donation onward, these badges celebrate your commitment to saving lives.

Everyone earns badges — but no one earns your badges. Like snowflakes or fingerprints (but way cooler), each collection is one-of-a-kind — reflecting the unique path you've taken as a donor. Your badges tells the story of your generosity, your milestones and your impact in your community.

More than just digital stickers, these are meaningful markers of the difference you make — whether you share them proudly or keep them as a personal reminder of the lives you’ve touched.

How It Works

    • If you haven't already, create a profile in OBI's Donor Portal.
    • Donate blood, plasma or platelets as often as you like.
    • Unlock badges automatically for milestones, special campaigns and surprises.
    • Share your badges on social media (#EarnedAtOBI) or proudly display them in your donor profile.
    • Keep donating to collect new badges released regularly.

    Each month, a spunky new critter is ready for "adoption" — but act fast! Once the month ends, that Pal's badge can no longer be added to your collection.

      • What are Donor Badges?

        Our Blood Institute's new digital recognition program that rewards donors with collectible badges for hitting donation milestones, participating in campaigns and more.

      • Who can earn badges?

        Anyone who donates with Our Blood Institute and has a donor profile. If you don't have one yet, it's quick and easy to create.

      • Do I need to sign up separately to participate?

        Nope! Just create or log in to your OBI donor profile — your badges will appear automatically as you earn them.

      • What kinds of badges can I earn?

        You'll earn badges for milestone donations, giving specific products like platelets or plasma, participating in special campaigns and more. New badges drop regularly!

      • How can I view my badges?

        Click or tap the button below, then log into the portal!

      • Can I see my badges in the OBI app?

        Yes! In fact, if you view your collection through the app, you'll unlock the App-solute Legend badge!

        You can also check out your badge collection by logging into the donor portal on your phone or computer. We promise they look just as shiny there!

      • Will I get badges for past donations?

        Absolutely! We're back-tracking through your donor history to award badges for milestones you've already hit, so you may already have a few shiny surprises waiting in your profile.

        For the Gallon Giver series, you’ll start right at the level you've already earned. So if you've donated 10 gallons, you can wear that badge with pride. There's no going back for the smaller ones!

      • How will I know when I earn a badge?

        You'll see new badges pop up in your donor profile after qualifying donations. You may receive an email or text notification, too.

      • How are the Gallon Giver badges calculated?

        Gallon Giver badges are awarded for every eight successful donations of whole blood, platelets, plasma or power reds. When we launched the program, we awarded the level you’re currently at — and that one's yours forever. From here on out, you can keep climbing to even higher levels!

        Please Note: The "Lifetime Donations" number on your profile may include additional visits — even the ones where you were deferred or gave something else. Due to technical limitations, donations made prior to 1999 may not be included in current "Gallon Giver" calculations — although we are working to address this. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask that you email customerservice@obi.org if you notice a discrepancy.

      • Are the badges physical or digital?

        All badges are digital and live in your donor profile.

      • Can I collect all the badges?

        Some badges are permanent, others are limited-time or campaign-based. Keep an eye out for special releases!

      • Can I share my badges with others?

        Absolutely! You'll be able to share select badges on social media to show off your impact and inspire others to give.

      • Can others see my badge collection?

        Your badge collection is private by default, although we'd love to see you share your achievements with your friends!

      • How often do new badges come out?

        We aim for regularly… but it's really up to our team of overcaffinated hamsters and how fast they can crank them out between naps and heated font debates.

      • What happens if I miss a limited-time badge?

        Some badges will be exclusive to certain campaigns or events. If you miss one, don't worry — there's always something new around the corner.

      • What if I have ideas for new badges?

        We'd love to hear them! Some of our best ideas come from donors like you. You can contact us:

      • What if my badge doesn't show up after a donation?
