    Reference Laboratory

    A close-up of a blood transfusion.

The Reference Laboratory provides specialized testing on blood products to identify and supply rare blood products to those in need. Everyone has a specific set of antigens in their blood, some of which can be rare. If enough antigens are present, the patient will require a unit of blood from a donor who matches their unique profile. That’s where we come in!

    Circular of Information

The Circular of Information for the Use of Human Blood and Blood Components (“the Circular”) serves as an extension of the product label, providing indications for the use of blood and blood components, precautions, instructions for administration, and adverse effects of transfusion. It is recognized by the Food and Drug Administration as an acceptable extension of container labels. Like a package insert for prescription drugs, it is an important part of the labeling of a blood component. The Code of Federal Regulations, Title 21, requires it to be available for distribution with blood and blood components intended for transfusion.
