A new Arkansas law is making it easier for residents to take their health information on the road — literally.
Starting in 2026, Arkansans will have the option to display their blood type on their driver's license or state-issued ID thanks to the recent passing of Arkansas House Bill 1315. The bill, which passed unanimously in both the Arkansas State House and Senate, came about after a conversation with a veteran constituent, Arkansas Sen. Tyler Dees told KNWA.
"They said, ‘You know, when I served in the Army, our dog tags always had our blood type,'" Dees said, paraphrasing his constituent. "A simple conversation like that led to this new law."
While entirely voluntary, the move could offer crucial benefits in emergency situations where every second counts.
