In Bull Riding & Blood Donation, Every Second Counts

Blood donors, it's time to saddle up. We're wrangling our community this spring with a goal of saving buckaroos across Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas. And we're giving away something special as an added benefit.

In the world of professional bull riding, 8 seconds is everything. It's the difference between walking away a champion or leaving the arena empty-handed. If you've seen the 1990s classic 8 Seconds, you know the grit and heart it takes to stay on a bull for that long.

But did you know that in those same 8 seconds, four people in the U.S. will need a blood transfusion? Someone needs blood every two seconds — which means by the time a bull rider hears the final buzzer, lives are hanging in the balance.

That's where you come in.

Right now, Our Blood Institute is calling on all heroes to Saddle Up & Donate. Throughout the month of March, OBI donors will receive a limited-edition western-themed T-shirt, while supplies last.

But because it's not our first rodeo, we knew sweetening the pot would spur on even more donations — that's why you'll also be entered to win an oh-so-stylish cowboy hat from our local partners each time you donate in the month of March. And we're not talking about just any cowboy hat, we're talking about a top-tier ten-gallon hat up to a $500 value! That's a deal even city slickers can get behind.

So...who's ready to ride with us? In the immortal words of Tombstone's Doc Holliday, "you're a daisy if you do."
